On August 9, 2014, Ned Erickson embarked on an audacious adventure: to run the entire Blue Ridge Parkway. Starting in Cherokee, North Carolina, Ned completed the North Carolina section in 4 days, 8 hours, and 38 minutes.
He finished that day, having run 261 miles, over two marathons a day! Unfortunately, that evening he was sidelined by kidney complications due to the pain medicine he was taking.
That was when the We Run For Them really happened. While in the hospital, men, women and children rallied around the cause and began logging their own miles.
Thousands of miles we recorded...
In the process, We Run For Them raised over $15,000 for Carolina Point, a Young Life Camp in Brevard, North Carolina serving special needs kids as well as for the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, the sole fundraising arm for the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Thank you to all his Team members as well as his sponsors: Champion, Great Outdoor Provision, Mountain Park Spring Water, Kevin Powell Motorsports, Fleet Feet, Pearl Izumi, Capture Public Relations, and Wayne Cannon Physical Therapy.
In 2016, plans are in the works to launch an on going We Run For Them effort to raise money and awareness for worthwhile causes.
Please stay tuned!
